Blue Aran "Tuff Cab" is a viscous black coating which may be sprayed, rolled or brush applied and retains the application texture. The coating is flexible yet scratch resistant, highly durable and as it is a self crosslinking acrylic is water resistant when dried. It has been specifically developed for wood, plywood and mdf as a coating for flight cases and speaker manufacturing. Very rapid drying, first coat on uncoated wood, approx. 5 mins at degrees C, each subsequent coat slightly longer. However in trials we have applied up to 6 coats in an 8 hour period. This coating contains no solvents. The finished effect is satin to gloss finish, however the gloss increases with each coat. Brushes or application equipment should be washed with warm water whilst still wet. The best spray finishes for speakers and flight cases are from a light smooth finish, oversprayed with a heavier "splatter" coat.

A 2.5Kg tub contains approximately 2.5L of paint, the feedback we have received suggests this is sufficient for up to 4 bassbins (15" or 18") with 3-4 light coats per speaker. The FIRST COAT on bare wood takes more paint. The more coats you do, the more durable the final finish.

Please Note: Tuff Cab is designed primarily for use as a covering for new speaker cabinets and flight cases. It is possible for Tuff Cab to not bond perfectly with existing paint finishes, and you may need to rub down the surface to achieve good adhesion. It is also known that Tuff Cab does not always bondy perfectly with certain types of wood filler, and car body filler, and it is recommended to avoid using these excessively. It is not necessary to use primer on bare wood - Tuff Cab bonds better when applied to bare wood without primer.
